Art and Music Programs
At Sacred Artist Within we focus on creativity, spontaneity and fun.
Each of our programs are designed to assist the student in finding
within themselves that special spark that makes them unique and
special.
ACTING AND SINGING
Learning how to use one's voice to be most effective in their
interactions, speaking directly and with kindness. Building
confidence in our students as they learn to make sounds.
Each program will have a theme, the children will learn how to make
a play, become characters in a story and then act it out in front of
an audience.
All of these activities, build confidence, self-worth and self-esteem.

children are given parameters with the freedom and encouragement to express themselves as creatively as possible.
In all singing classes students are asked to make all types
of odd noises so that they can become familiar with the range of
sounds they can make and also to become comfortable with their
voices. Remember their voices will also change in their experience
as a child. At all times encouraging freedom and creative
expression.
The English program will also be linked to the music program as in
that program we will touch upon some similar themes such as sound
with a chime or drum or singing with sound bowl. We will be singing
and composing our own songs and melodies. It is a wonderfully
experiential time with children for them to find out what they like
to do and perhaps even choose a career around that area!
We will encourage the performing art's and give awards to all the
children for outstanding achievement. Each student will announce and
give another student an award for achievement.
MUSIC
When you enter the space at Sacred Artist Witin there will be a corridor
filled with chimes, drums, soundbowls, rattles and other instuments
that make sound. As we enter the sacred space the idea will be to
make some sounds as to announce ourselves to the space. As we
acknowledge our sacred selves in the sacred space the sounds bring
the space to life.
As we learn to become more comfortable and confident in ourselves and our abilities we become more expressive, sometimes even suprising!
In the classes we will learn to do some toning and how to make some
sacred sounds with our voices, drums and singing bowls.
There will also be the opportunity for group singing, which is
becoming more popular these days because it is so theraputic. Group
singing has been scientifically proven to lower stress, relieve
anxiety, and elevate endorphins
When you sing, musical vibrations move through you, altering your
physical and emotional landscape. Group singing, for those who
have done it, is the most exhilarating and transformative of all. It
takes something incredibly intimate, a sound that begins inside you,
shares it with a roomful of people and it comes back as something
even more thrilling: harmony
All classe are for beginners. All you need is a willingness to try.
MOVEMENT
At Sacred Artist Within we deal with the whole child, Body,
Mind and Spirit. In the exploration of movement we offer simple yoga
classes for beginners as well as a few modern style dance classes,
such as Journey Dance and The 5 Rhythm's Dance Method.
As a child is growing physically they need to move their bodies to
experience life fully in their bodies. All of the dance
classes are free flowing and free movement. Movement is vital to ones
well being physically and emotionally. Movement brings balance and
harmony, another core value of our center's work. We will touch upon
anatomy in our movement classes as well as breath and relaxation as
part of the gentiler aspect of movement. We will dance freely
weaving and exploring our way to an empowering journey to self
acceptance and transformation opening them to JOY inside and out.
ARTS
Jewlery making will be a natural by product of the gemology class
where each student will be able to put together their vision in a
piece of jewelry. They will be encouraged to be mindfull in their
choices of color and shape while creating a work of art.
In our T-shirt desine class, t-shirts will be considered a "blank canvas" for creative
expression.T-shirts with handmade designs that the child gets to
create and wear.
The medium of a white t shirt will be met by many different
findings: feathers, rhinestones, metallic paint, lace shapes
and many other pieces. Each child has a variety of decorations they
can use to create their very own t shirt with glitter, rhinestones,
feathers, paint, you name it! Each student will pick a t- shirt
and begin to vision a masterpiece that will either tell a story or
be completely abstract.
We encourage the children to be vocal about their creations so
please be open to your child's enthusiasm as they express
themselves. Our center promotes sacred sharing which includes
listening and being heard. This is a practice we would love to share
about with you the parent.
The mandala painting and mandala drawings use sacred shapes that we
will color in from a stencil. Some examples are shown below:
The mandala expresses a deep inner knowing or yearning of the
artist. We are here to assist the child in their expression of inner
knowing.
We paint with water color or acrylic and draw with a full range of
prismacolor pencils.
The materials are sold separately. Please see the individual class
forms for the prices.
The mandala drawing and painting class will be a series of classes
for 6 weeks teaching shape, sacred geometry, how to use the compass
and create your very own mandala. There are also some simple
templates that can be used on the canvas. The canvases are 12" by
12" and we will be using acrylic paints once we have chosen our
mandala.
Mandala painting is for kids of all ages, teaching color coordination as well as precision and painting technique. Our teachers are highly qualified artists that bring unique talents to the table.
